Before the arrival of summer, El Prat de Llobregat prepares to experience the traditional Summer Concert of the School of Live Arts. The event will take place next June 19, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., in Plaça de Pau Casals, and will bring together different formations from the school in a day open to all citizens.
The event will feature the participation of the Blue Band and the Young Band, who will present the project Correspondences, a musical proposal that brings different generations of performers into dialogue. The Big Band of the School of Live Arts will also perform, offering a repertoire focused on Latin music. The program will be completed with the participation of the Neighborhood Orchestra of the Sant Jordi-Ribera Baixa Civic Center, which will share the stage with the Adult Choir of the School in a joint performance.
A summer full of music and participation
Beyond this concert, the School of Live Arts continues to promote various musical activities open to the public. One of the most outstanding initiatives is the Neighborhood Orchestra, a project shared with the Sant Jordi-Ribera Baixa Civic Center that takes place every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and which can also be seen, as we said, during the Concert on the 19th.
It is a community and intergenerational space that promotes collective musical practice. Participants do not necessarily need to have prior musical knowledge to participate, as anyone can join the project by contributing their skills, experiences or concerns. Those who have an instrument and know how to play it can also bring it and be part of the sessions. An orchestra that has consolidated itself as an initiative that fosters coexistence, citizen participation and personal and collective growth, using music as a tool for cohesion and social transformation.
End-of-course auditions at Torre Balcells
On the other hand, between June 15 and 18, the Torre Balcells Auditorium will host the traditional end-of-course auditions of the students of the School of Live Arts. During these days, students will show the work done throughout the year in different instrumental and vocal specialties.
Students of flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, singing, piano, keyboards, guitar, violin, viola, cello and double bass will participate.
